Joints Pain Treatment in Noida

Common causes of joints pain

  • Arthritis- This is the most common cause of joint pain. The two forms of arthritis are Osteoarthritis (which affects the knee, hip, shoulder, hands, etc.) or Rheumatoid arthritis (usually causes pain in smaller joints of hands and feet).
  • Bursitis or inflammation of the cushioning pads around joints.
  • Gout.
  • Tendinitis or inflammation of the tendon (flexible bands connecting bones with a muscle).
  • Overuse of a joint occurs in athletes.
  • Osteoporosis or weakening of bones. Mostly occurs in post-menopausal females or those on long-term steroid therapy. If left untreated it can cause fractures of bones.
  • Cancer (rare).
  • Rickets.

Joint pain should be treated early as it may cause stiffness of the joint as well as loss of range of motion. The overall emphasis should be on returning to normal function in a stepwise fashion.

Management: Following treatment options are available for joints pain management

  • Home treatments, such as applying a heating pad or ice on the affected area, several times a day may be recommended initially.
  • Exercise can help maintain muscle strength and avoid injury to ligaments or joints. Walking, swimming or other low-impact aerobic exercise are very good. Gentle stretching exercises will also help.
  • Weight loss and postural adjustments are also good ways to lessen the strain on joints.
  • Topical treatments- Ointments or gels that can be rubbed into the skin over the affected joint area, may also help ease the pain.
  • Medications- Over-the-counter medicines like Acetaminophen, or Ibuprofen may help ease the pain. Sometimes if pain severity is very high then other strong medications are prescribed by the doctors.
  • Supportive aids, such as a brace or cane can help support the joint to allow ease of movement. One should consult a doctor or a physical or occupational therapist for the right type and size of these.
  • Physical or Occupational Therapy, along with a balanced fitness program, may gradually help ease pain and improve flexibility.
  • Injections- Sometimes injections to provide better relief in the joints are also employed. Lubricating injections can also provide substantial relief in knee pain in a lot of patients. Similarly, ozone therapy is also useful in treating joint pain.
  • Surgery: Surgery procedures (like Total Hip Replacement) are used as a last resort.
